USA Pennsylvania will be hosting the 2002 USAPL American Open Powerlifting Championships. The idea behind this contest is to give all USAPL lifters the opportunity to lift at a Nationally sanctioned event, with National or International judges. This contest will exclude any lifter who has placed in the top 5 in the Men's or Women's Open division in that last three years. It will also exclude any lifters who have have completed a USAPL elite total in the last three year. Another GREAT thing about this contest is if you win the Open division, you AUTOMATICALLY qualify for the 2003 USAPL Men's and Women's Open National Championships, regardless of what you total.

This contest is going to be hosted by USAPL Pennsylvania. This network of folks has been plugging away the last 2.5 years trying to get big contests, back in Pennsylvania. We have fully equipped our state with IPF legal equipment. Thanks to Kim Newman at MoveItFitness.com, we will have ER Squat and Bench racks, Chrome Ivanko weights, BarLoad software and more!!! For those of you have not experienced a USAPL Pennsylvania contest, this is your opportunity.

The venue for this contest is huge 12,000 square foot facility, it is located in the Holiday Inn located adjacent to the King of Prussia Mall. This venue provides not only a great place to have a large contest, it also is a great place to bring the family for any last minute shopping right before the Christmas holiday!

Now we know the news of this contest is late. This idea was kicked around for a while and the getting a venue proved to be a difficult thing to pull off. But now it's all come together and we would like for you to come out and support this contest. I think it's a great concept for a contest and it will be a great day of lifting.
