USAPL Vice President

Vice President's Message

This is our last issue before the National Governing Body meeting next month in Rapid City, South Dakota. USAPL is a democratically organized federation, and that means that your input and participation is necessary so that we may proceed. If you are not planning on attending, please provide input as to your State Chair to guide them in representing you through their votes. The agenda for the meeting will be published on our website, www.usapowerlifting.com prior to the meeting.

We will also hold elections for President and two Executive Committee positions. Please come and participate in these, meet the candidates, help us decide who will fill these important positions.

There are several bylaw amendments up for discussion, including reduction in payment for your officers (President, V.P., etc.), and alternate compensation. The issue of establishment of a permanent National Office, i.e. one that doesn't follow the President will be discussed.

Also important are issues of growth, including recruitment of athletes, meet promoters, and officials. Plans for increasing media exposure will be discussed as well, and committee reports will be given as to progress in these and other areas.

Bids for National competitions will be discussed as well. The location of our flagship competitions is important for a number of reasons, including exposure, ease of transportation, etc.

Finally, issues related to relationships among federations will be discussed. Please be there to assist as we go forward for a stronger future for drug free powerlifting.
