44kg class:
The first day of lifting had combined the 44kg & 48kg class for a total of 15 lifters. A tough morning for USA coaching staff as we had three lifters: Ashley Hudson/Robbins, Tina Carder @ 44kg. and Jenn Maile @ 48kg. Last years' Silver medallist, Svetlana Tesleva moved up to 48kg for this meet. In the 44kg's, Raija Koskinen of Finland showed why she's the best in the world by going 9/9 and repeating her 2003 Worlds victory. Her 390kg total was 27.5kg better than the 2nd place, and much improved Robbins who bettered her last years' 4th place finish to a Silver this year. Her husband, Brad Robbins who was serving as an Asst. Coach this year, aided her. Koskinen set a WRM in the squat and WRM in the total. Bringing home the Bronze was USA's Tina Carder who was impressive with her confidence on the platform. Excellent performance for this first time IPF lifter.

48kg class:
Russia's Teslava was the favored in this class, as last years winner, Olesia Lafina moved up to the 52kg's. Returning were medallists Fukushima Yukako of Japan and Jenn Maile of USA to be the front runners. Solid lifting across the boards by Tesleva coupled with a big BP by Fukashima left them 1 & 2 at the subs. Jenn Maile's only got in her opening Dead Lift so, the win went to Tesleva with a WR total of 445kg. Silver to Fukushima with 427.5kg and Jenn Maile of USA brought home the Bronze with 405kg.

52kg class
Last year's winner, USA's Sioux-z Hartwig was out with injury. Olesia Lafina moved up to this class and put together a sub-total that couldn't be caught by Ukraine's Oksana Dyytruk who pulled within 10kgs of Lafina to secure the Silver. Bronze went to Mervi Rantamaki of Finland who finished with 435kg. Lafinas winning total was 470kg. Yi-jo Chou pulled a class high 180kg to medal in that lift.

60kg class:
2003 champion from Russia Valenti Nelubova did not return this year. Also out was USA's Bettina Altizer. It came down to 2 Russians and a Ukrainian for the medals. Russia's Maria Revva put together an outstanding meet to take the Gold with a WR Dead Lift of 227.5kg and WR Total of 567.5kg. This also gave her Champion of Champions title. Silver went to the Ukrainian, and 2001 JR World Champ Larysa Vitsiyevska with a 550kg total and a Gold in the Bench Press. Bronze went to Irina Tatarova with 535kg total and Gold in the squat.

56kg class:
This class and the 75kg class were the largest in the meet. Russia's Tatayana Eltsova only went 5/9 but it was enough for a 505kg total and a 12.5kg victory over Ukraine's' Olena Dmytruk who only went 4/9. Anna Maniak of France finished with 499kg and the Bronze. USA's Carley Nogel came in 5th, after attempting a PR deadlift to place her in 4th. Fine lifting in her first IPF competition.

67.5kg class:
Marina Kudinova was a no-show due to knee injury. Young Ukrainian Zhanna Ivanova and 2003 Silver medallist Leslya Gumynska hoped to take home the Gold this year. USA's Priscilla Ribic has made steady progress in the last 2 years and was ready to show her skills. Priscilla took Gold in the Bench Press and was in 3rd at the sub-totals but coming to the Deads she showed why she was a WR holder. Her 3/3 in the pull demolished the pack and gave he her first world Title. Silver went to Ivanova with 685kg; and Bronze to Guminska with 567.5kg. A 4th attempt WR by Priscilla was attempted and red-lighted this time. A great USA victory!

75kg Class:

Last years Champion of Champions winner from Russia Svetlana Deduly was not entered. 14 lifters were entered in this large class and the battle was between former JR World champ from Russia, Yulia Zaugolova and Ukraine's' Tamara Bahriy. Both went 8/9 but the Ukraine never made up the lead by the Russian at subs. The winning total was 610kg. For the Bronze was Inger Blikra of Norway with 552kg. USA's Katie Ford went 6/9, yet still had a PR Dead lift and PR total. A suit malfunction caused her from going much more this day and she placed 6th in the large class. A fine performance for this many time JR World Competitor and 1st time Open IPF lifter.

82.5kg class
No USA lifter in this class. This was one of the closest fought battles of the meet. Kazackstan's Tatayana Kudryavtseva set a WR Bench Press of 160ks along with a Gold in the Dead Lift to win the class with a total of 610kg. Ukraine's Katerina Boroday won Gold in the squat to finish with a total of 607.5kg. Netherlands Ilja Stri went 6/9 to win the Bronze with 600kg. Monique Hartle of Canada finished up with a fine lifting performance and a 7/9 day.

90kg class:
This class had the youngest lifter in the meet, USA's Bonica Brown. She lifted well for a first-timer; especially considering she was in a class against the Russian iron-woman Irina Lugovaya. The Russian set a WR BP of 175kg and a CR of 257.5kf in the Dead Lift. To top it off she set a WR total of 687.5kg that was 4th Wilks points for Best Lifter. Irina Yavorska of Ukraine tied Lugovaya's CR Dead Lift and came in for the silver medal with 672.5kg. Inna Orobets of Ukraine had a great bench of 172.5kg and won the Bronze over-all. USA's Bonica Brown set all the WRSJ records and finished 6th with a 502.5kg total. Great lifting for the 15 year old!

90+kg class:
This last class was deep in talent with WR holder in the BP & Total Chen Yeh Chao of Taiwan back; along with WR squatter, Russia's Galina Karpova. USA's Liz Willett was very well conditioned and ready to smash existing WR's. Young Ukrainian Viktoria Olenytska was also capable of huge numbers. The WR's change hands many times and winners came down to who had more lifts passed. Liz Willett was clearly the strongest lifter there, but several 2/1 re-light calls against her kept her from her potential. Karpova prevailed with a WR total of 715kg. Chao followed her with 685kg and Willett with 685kg and the Silver medal went to Chao on bodyweight. Harriet Hall, at 56 years old, set a terrific 240kg WRM squat to show the youngster's a thing or two. Despite a shoulder injury, she showed courage and finished the meet.
