October 01, 2004 Dear USAPL Member, Greetings! It is my pleasure to announce to you that the 3rd annual USAPL American Open Powerlifting Championships will be held on December 11 & 12, 2004 in King of Prussia (suburbs of Philadelphia), Pennsylvania. An application for the event is attached an available for your review. One can also be downloaded from the official contest web-site. The American Open Championships has been especially formatted for the intermediate and grassroots level lifter, wishing to gain valuable platform experience, prior to lifting at either the Men's or Women's National Powerlifting Championships, where a lifter is attempting to qualify for a world team position. Guest lifter spots will be available to elite level lifters wanting to sharpen their skills or to set IPF World Records. Important to note, all first place finishers in the men's & women's open division at the American Open Championships, shall automatically qualify, regardless of total, for the 2005 USAPL Men's & Women's National Powerlifting Championships. The platform equipment for the contest will be international caliber, and will include the ER squat racks/bench press, calibrated chrome Ivanko bar and weights, Sorinex weightlifting platform, Barload software program, and a computerized scoring system. The warm-up room shall include 3 platforms, with Sorinex and Serpa equipment, along with York Barbell bars and weights. In addition to the championship, on Saturday evening, December 11, 2004, a training seminar, free of charge, shall be held at the venue. IPF world-record holder Dr. Robert Wagner shall be presenting the seminar. The seminar may include two other elite athletes and world team members as well. A one-hour round-table discussion shall be held on "How to promote a local and state championship" prior to the training seminar. If you require powerlifting gear, commercial sellers will be available with the most up-to-date equipment to accommodate your specific needs. Also, official USAPL merchandise will be available as well, so please take advantage of these two offers.
