Invitation to the 2006 USA Powerlifting American Open - Palm Springs, CA

Lance Slaughter, Contest Director

Palm Springs, CA will play host to the 2006 USAPL American Open. This national level competition will be held in Palm Springs, CA at the Palm Springs Convention Center on December 2-3.

The American Open was developed so that lifters from the state and regional level can gain valuable experience on a national level type platform. This contest is open to all current USAPL members who have not achieved an elite USAPL total in the last 3 years in any weight class and no qualifying total or contest is required to enter this championship. Winners of the open category at the American Open are automatically qualified for the Men's Open National Championships and the Women's Open National Championships.

Elite-level lifters are also welcome and encouraged to lift at the American Open as guest lifters. The competition platform will offer the ER Equipment rack, Ivanko bars and discs and with national and international referees on hand; the American Open provides a great opportunity for lifters to set American and IPF world records.

There will also be a special session on Saturday evening that will feature the American Open Bench Press Invitational. Limited to 30 entries, including men & women of all age groups, the Bench Press Invitational offers a special opportunity for lifters to set single-lift state,
